Welcome

I’m Courtney Chavez, a games industry professional with a wide range of technical and creative skills. My most recent role was Associate Lore Historian on World of Warcraft, Overwatch 2, and the unannounced survival game at Blizzard Entertainment.

I created future-proof, reliable lore documentation for designers to reference when expanding these worlds, and answered narrative inquiries and research requests from game teams and their partners daily. From reviewing artwork meant for publications for quality and continuity over Miro, to translating creative ideation into Lore Bibles on Confluence, attention to detail is important to me. It is always my goal to put forth cohesive and captivating stories that are carefully edited for clarity and quality.

While on Back 4 Blood at Turtle Rock Studios I wrote, edited, and implemented character dialogue to be used in game, as well as corrected errors in existing dialogue using in-house tools. I am experienced in collaborating with other writers on a regular basis regarding game narrative and direction, as well as crafting and proposing detailed character narrative documents to production and design teams.

About Me

I have always been drawn to narrative design, particularly character-driven narratives with a focus on authentic and impactful moments. Crafting worlds that feel alive, inspiring players with a sense of wonder and passion for both the game world and the characters that inhabit it has always been my goal.

I’m an avid participant in the LARP and tabletop RPG community and a passionate advocate of the LGBT+ community. I have a keen interest in voice acting and have taken several professional-level courses at Del Mar Media Arts in Irvine, California. In my spare time, I both play and run campaigns for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, crafting intricate narratives and strengthening my skills in collaborative storytelling, game design, improv, and voice acting.
